If you are planning to redo your floors using hard wood, you should know your options. Hardwood floors vary greatly in look, quality and price. Listed below are the different types of hard wood flooring available:
- Solid hardwood flooring – these are solid pieces of woods that are cut into planks. Usually, the thickness of it is 3/4". However, this type of hardwood flooring is not suggested for concrete slabs.
- Engineered Hardwood Flooring – these are some different pieces of wood which are laminated and glued together to make a plank. The thickness of this wood can be from 1/4" to 1/2". This is appropriate for concrete slabs.
- Long-strip Hardwood Flooring – this is an engineered hardwood flooring with a broader and longer individual piece. Meaning, each piece covers 3 times the surface part of a standard flooring plank. Majority of the laminate wood flooring fall in this type.
- Acrylic Impregnated - this is wood flooring where the wood grain has been injected with an acrylic material making it very hard and durable. This makes this type of wood flooring a good choice for restaurants, malls, and other high-traffic areas. With the various colors and patterns this also can be used for in-home installation.
