This is usually one of the most common problems of having hardwood floors. While you may feel that a scratch has ruined your nice hardwood floors, unless it's a wide and deep gouge, there is usually a way to repair it without noticing any difference. Use the following tips to repair scratches in your hardwood flooring.
- Go to the nearest hardware store and buy wood scratch filler kits. Find the color that best matches the color of your hardwood. Most hardware and home improvement stores will have a good variety of colors from which to choose.
- Begin polishing and smoothing the affected area to prepare it for filling.
- Once the area is prepared, use the hardwood floor repair solution to seal in the scratches.
- After you have filled in the crevice of the scratch, let it dry for some time according to the directions on the filler container. Then, smooth the area using a low grit sandpaper. That's it, you're done.
