Using posts is the traditional practice, but there are also many different styles of bed canopies that don’t require posts.
An example of a bed canopy that doesn’t require posts is the crown canopy, which is attached directly to the wall rather than using posts. Another is the ring canopy. A ring canopy requires only four pieces of hardware, which are attached to the ceiling. These can be metal rings, wooden hoops, curtain tie-backs, towel rings, or even wire.
