Grants are utilized for a lot of purposes depending on the recipient and the goal of the philanthropist. Grants can be classified as any of the following:
- Educational grant - This is given to people who are planning to pursue a higher degree but cannot pay for their matriculation and other school needs.
- Entitlement grant - This is given to people who are able to meet the standards set by the rules and regulations of a certain department or organization.
- Discretionary grant - Assisting the homeless is one type of discretionary grant.
There are other kinds of grants that are made available for people. The federal government sponsors some, but private institutions also offer grants.
