Before you successfully acquire funds for your projects that will provide social service, you must learn to write a funding proposal. This will establish your credibility (or lack of credibility) with different funding agencies, community organizations, and the people you are serving. This is why it is important to write a good proposal.
Your funding proposal should include the following items:
- A title, along with the key signatories in your organization.
- An overview, which describes the general framework of your project.
- The background information or statement of the problem, giving citations from previous studies and projects similar to yours.
- Project details, including your goals and objectives, the clientele you hope to serve, the methods you will be using, and the administration of the project. These details should be made clear in this section.
- Your assessment of available and required resources for the project (such as facilities, personnel, and budget). This will be used as a basis for evaluating your proposal.
- Your evaluation plan, which should give the funding agency an idea of how their money would be spend if they invested in your project, convincing them that it would be a great success.
