Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is the type of arthritis that causes joint inflammation and stiffness for more than six weeks in a child of sixteen years of age or less.
There are three types of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis: polyarticular, pauciarticular, and systematic. Polyarticular involves more than five joints and may be associated with a low-grade fever, while pauciarticular involves fewer joints; and systematic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis can affect the entire body.
