Some people think that removing grease stains from clothes is impossible. This is not true. There are steps which can be used to remove any grease stain, whether it is automotive, lubricating, or cooking oil.
- First, sprinkle an absorbent material like cornstarch or talcum powder on the stained area and then brush it off. If the grease stains are too heavy or too ingrained, go to the next step. If the grease stains are fresh, proceed to the third step.
- Place the stained area face down on a paper towel, and blot the back of the stain with dry-cleaning solvent. When the first paper towel is soaked, replace it with a new one and repeat the process until the stain is gone.
- Spray the stain with a commercial laundry pretreatment spray.
- Wash the clothing item in the hottest water it can stand.
- Do not put the clothing in the dryer. Hang it or lay it flat to dry.
