Grass stains on clothing can be very difficult to remove. They are considered "dye stains." However, grass stains can be removed if you take the right steps.

The simplest step is to test your preferred cleaning product on part of the stained area. If it appears to be working, keep applying the cleaner until the stains come out. After that, wash the clothing according to instructions stated on its label.

Steps for washable fabrics:

1. Dip the stained area into a bucket of water, then wipe the stains with rubbing alcohol and allow the item to dry.

2. If stains remain, dab the stained area with cool water, then work liquid detergent into the stains. Rinse and let dry.

3. If stains still remain, soak the clothing in a mixture of water and a commercial stain-remover for 30-60 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then launder the clothing.

Steps for dry-cleanable clothing:

1. For best results, get the stained garment to the dry cleaners as soon as possible.

2. If you plan to remove the stains yourself, dab the stained area with a small amount of white vinegar, then rinse with water. If the stain remains, you can apply an enzyme cleaning product, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with a warm-water sponge. However, do not use any enzyme products if your fabric is silk or wool.

3. Next, you can apply baking soda mixed with water to the stained area, then dab it with a sponge moistened with white vinegar. The fizzing effect of the chemical reaction can sometimes remove stains.
